Freedom of speech

Hi, I am a new blogger and look forward to the interaction that I think this site will provide.

I am a member of a number of other forums and have noticed that while everyone talks about the need for free speech many people cannot brook any differing viewpoint to their own and then indulge in mindless name calling.

I would hope that this site will allow a forum for mature debate about differing philisophical and political ideas.

I have always thought that good manners are a sign of maturity and respect and even though we are anonymous on the internet they (good manners) should still govern how we interact.

Welcome Trot, from what I've seen of the people on this site, the majority have good manners, and there are some lovely people here! I look forward to reading your stuff
